The US trade deficit widens, marking one of the largest deficits since 1960

BlockBeats News, February 19 — According to data released today by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. trade deficit in December 2025 widened, marking the end of a tumultuous year characterized by unpredictable tariffs and policy fluctuations. The trade deficit for goods and services increased to $70.3 billion compared to the previous month. The annual deficit reached $901.5 billion, one of the largest deficits recorded since 1960. The December trade deficit reflected a 3.6% increase in imports, while exports of goods and services declined by 1.7%. Market expectations generally forecast the December trade deficit to total $55.5 billion.
