(MENAFN- KNN India) ** New Delhi, Mar 7 (KNN)** The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has signed a Flexible Memorandum of Understanding (Flexi-MoU) with Bajaj Auto Ltd. to promote industry-integrated skill development in India’s automotive manufacturing sector.

Under the revised Flexi-MoU scheme, Bajaj Auto will function as an Industry Training Partner and deliver NSQF-aligned training programmes at its facilities in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand.

The company has proposed enrolling 1,000 trainees in the first year, with training periods of up to 24 months combining classroom learning with hands-on shopfloor experience in advanced manufacturing environments.

Speaking on the partnership, Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary said collaborations between industry and the skilling ecosystem are essential to making youth job-ready.

He noted that exposure to real production settings and modern technology will help build a skilled workforce aligned with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

The Flexi-MoU scheme allows industries to design customised training programmes aligned with emerging technologies while maintaining conformity with the National Skills Qualification Framework.

The scheme requires a minimum annual intake of 100 trainees, industry-led practical assessment, and centralised computer-based examinations, with successful candidates receiving a National Trade Certificate.

The collaboration will provide trainees exposure to automotive production systems, quality control processes, maintenance technologies, mechatronics, welding, assembly operations and logistics management. The programme also aims to improve placement outcomes by linking training with apprenticeship and employment opportunities.

As part of the initiative, industrial training partners are expected to ensure placement of at least 50 percent of successful trainees and may utilise CSR funding to support training and stipend costs.

Bajaj Auto has reportedly dedicated around 70–80 percent of its CSR spending to skill development programmes, impacting over 90,000 students annually through initiatives such as BEST, BMS and STEP.

The 10-year agreement, extendable based on performance in enrolment, learning outcomes and placements, is expected to strengthen India’s industry-aligned skilling ecosystem and support the country’s manufacturing and workforce development goals.
