According to a report by Iran’s Fars News Agency on the 8th, although members of the Iranian Expert Assembly have differing opinions on the method of confirming the new Supreme Leader, they unanimously agree that it is necessary to accelerate the process. The report states that some members believe the election procedures and necessary investigations have been completed, and under the current circumstances, there is no need for a physical meeting to vote; the new Supreme Leader can be officially announced based on the completed investigations. Other members believe that to follow proper procedures and maximize member participation, a physical meeting should be held to formally collect votes and publicly announce the final result. The report suggests that the main reason for the delay in announcing the final result is security concerns. The Iranian Expert Assembly is the highest authority responsible for electing, supervising, and dismissing Iran’s Supreme Leader. (Xinhua)
