To further standardize the statistical criteria for copy trading return indicators, and enhance the accuracy, comparability and stability of returns data, Gate has comprehensively optimized the calculation and display rules for the return rate and return amount in the copy trading service. This adjustment focuses on specifying the return rate methodology, statistical time frame, data update frequency and special scenario handling rules.
This adjustment will not affect users' actual assets, real profit and loss, or profit-sharing settlement results . It only involves statistics and displays logic of returns data.

I. Explanation of the Returns Indicator System

Currently, the core return indicators involved in Gate's copy trading service are as follows:

1.Simple Return Rate (Default Display)
The platform has newly added and set "Simple Return Rate" as the default display indicator, which is used to measure the actual trading performance of traders within a specified period.
Calculation Logic:
Simple Return Rate = (Ending Assets − Cumulative Deposits in the Period + Cumulative Withdrawals in the Period − Initial Assets) ÷ (Initial Assets + Cumulative Deposits in the Period)

Notes:

  • Both Initial Assets and Ending Assets include unrealized profit and loss .
  • Deposits are regarded as investment costs and included in the denominator.
  • Withdrawals are not counted as returns and are excluded from the calculation.

2.Net Asset Value (NAV) Return Rate (Current Calculation Logic Remains Unchanged)

  • The platform's existing calculation service for NAV Return Rate remains unchanged
  • It will continue to serve as a historical reference and supplementary indicator.
  • The calculation logic for risk control indicators such as maximum drawdown will also remain unchanged.

3.Period Return Amount (Synchronized Display)
The platform has optimized and will display the Period Return Amount in parallel, which reflects the absolute level of returns within a specified timeframe.

Calculation Logic:

Period Return Amount = Ending Assets − Cumulative Deposits in the Period + Cumulative Withdrawals in the Period − Initial Assets

Return rate and return amount adopt the same statistical time frame and update frequency , helping users assess the scale and stability of returns.

II. Rules for Returns Statistical Starting Point and Asset Benchmark

1.Return Starting Point After Becoming a Lead Trader
After a user successfully becomes a lead trader:

  • The statistical starting point is the actual time when the user becomes a lead trader.

  • The return rate and return amount are fixed at 0 at 16:00 (UTC) on the day preceding the day of becoming a lead trader.

  • The benchmark value of the first initial assets is determined by:

    • The first hourly asset snapshot after becoming a lead trader
    • If the Gate user account was not created by the previous hour, the value will be set at 0.

This rule is designed to avoid interference of historical assets and identity conversion with returns data.

III. Rules for Data Frequency and Returns Curve

1.Asset Snapshot and Data Source

  • All time measurements are uniformly based on UTC .
  • All asset snapshots include unrealized profits and losses
  • The system captures the following data:
    • Daily historical asset snapshots at 16:00 (UTC) (for up to 365 days).
    • Full records of deposits and withdrawals within the period.
    • All hourly asset snapshots after 16:00 (UTC) on the current day.

2.Returns Update Frequency

  • Historical data : Calculated and fixed at 16:00 (UTC) daily.
  • Current-day data : Updated once per hour on the hour.
  • The update frequency of return rate and return amount remains consistent.

3.Rules for Returns Curve Data Snapshots
The number of data snapshots for the return curve across different time periods is as follows:

Range Number of Snapshots
7 days 9
30 days 32
90 days 92
180 days 182

Rules:

  • The first snapshot value is fixed at 0
  • Intermediate snapshots are statistical data captured at 16:00 (UTC) daily.
  • The last snapshot is the latest calculation result updated at the hour of the current day.

IV. Risk Disclaimer

Return rate and return amount are historical statistical data, which are for reference only and do not represent future performance. Please make comprehensive judgments by combining indicators such as the trader's risk control capability and maximum drawdown, and participate in copy trading rationally.
