Ronin Wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet specifically designed for the Ronin network and gaming environments, enabling users to manage tokens and NFTs and connect with on-chain applications. Initially created to serve the Axie Infinity ecosystem by Sky Mavis, it now supports a broader range of games and DApps.
The Ronin network is Ethereum-compatible and can run similar smart contracts. In-game assets such as AXS, SLP, and NFTs are all recorded on-chain. Ronin Wallet provides features like portfolio viewing, transfers, signature authorization, and cross-chain bridging, making it the gateway for interacting within the Ronin ecosystem.
Ronin Wallet was developed by Sky Mavis, the team behind Axie Infinity, and is optimized for high-frequency gaming interactions. The Ronin chain is an Ethereum-compatible network tailored for games, allowing seamless integration between the wallet and its ecosystem. In-game items and characters are stored as NFTs, with gameplay and transactions relying on blockchain operations.
Common assets in the Ronin ecosystem include AXS (the governance and utility token), SLP (the in-game reward token), and RON (the network token used for paying gas fees). Ronin Wallet connects to DApps (decentralized applications—websites or games that interface directly with the wallet) and supports asset transfers between Ethereum and Ronin via the Ronin Bridge, enabling both deposits and withdrawals for gaming.
Ronin Wallet supports tokens issued on the Ronin chain such as RON, AXS, SLP, as well as gaming NFTs (following standards similar to ERC-721 and ERC-1155). These assets are used for paying fees, participating in governance, in-game trading, and collection.
For example, Axie characters and lands are NFTs that can be traded in supported marketplaces or used in-game. Note that Ronin Wallet primarily manages "assets on the Ronin chain." If your assets are on Ethereum or another network, you’ll need to bridge them or select the correct network to view and use them.
Ronin Wallet is a non-custodial wallet, meaning users retain full control of their private keys—no third party holds them. When creating a wallet, you'll receive a mnemonic phrase (a set of words that serves as your master key), which derives your private key (used for signing transactions). Anyone with your mnemonic phrase or private key can control your assets.
Each time you make a transfer or grant authorization in a DApp, Ronin Wallet prompts you for a “signature”—similar to signing a document—to confirm the action. On-chain miners or validators then execute the transaction. Gas fees are paid in RON, with amounts varying based on network congestion and transaction complexity—simple transfers cost less, while complex contract interactions cost more.
Step 1: Visit official channels to install the Ronin Wallet browser extension or mobile app. Verify developer information to avoid counterfeit plugins or apps.
Step 2: Choose “Create New Wallet,” write down your mnemonic phrase offline, make multiple physical backups, and never store it online or via screenshots. Test the recovery process to ensure your backup works.
Step 3: Set an unlock password and anti-phishing prompt (if available), and enable device-level security options such as biometrics and system updates.
Step 4: Copy your Ronin address (which typically starts with “0x”). Prepare a small amount of RON for paying gas fees; if you don’t have RON yet, you can acquire it later through exchanges or cross-chain transfers.
There are two main ways to deposit assets onto the Ronin network:
Step 1: Purchase the required tokens (such as RON, AXS, SLP) on Gate. If Gate supports “Ronin Network” withdrawals, select the correct network and enter your Ronin Wallet address. Make sure the token and network match before submitting the withdrawal.
Step 2: If the exchange does not support withdrawals to the Ronin network, first withdraw to an Ethereum address from Gate. Then use Ronin Bridge to transfer assets from Ethereum to Ronin. Confirm authorization and signatures within your wallet during bridging, then wait for completion.
Step 3: To withdraw assets from the Ronin network back to an exchange, reverse the process. If your exchange supports deposits via the Ronin network, select it directly; otherwise, bridge assets back to Ethereum using Ronin Bridge before depositing them into your exchange account. Always verify that “token and network” match to prevent asset loss.
Within the Ronin ecosystem, you can also swap tokens using DApps like Katana. The first time you use a DApp, you must grant token approvals—this allows smart contracts to access specified token amounts. Always approve only what is necessary and keep allowances minimal.
On the Ronin network, transferring funds or interacting with contracts requires RON to pay gas fees. The fee level depends on network load and contract complexity. Bridging assets also incurs cross-chain contract call fees plus gas costs on the target chain—overall higher than direct transfers.
Depositing or withdrawing through exchanges may involve additional platform withdrawal fees or deposit rules. In summary, total costs are made up of “on-chain gas + cross-chain fees + exchange fees.” It’s best to test with a small amount before moving larger sums.
Main risks include key leakage, phishing links, fake wallet plugins, excessive token approvals, and bridge security vulnerabilities. If your mnemonic phrase or private key is exposed, your assets can be fully drained. Fake websites or plugins may trick you into entering recovery phrases; unlimited approvals could allow malicious contracts ongoing access to your funds.
Historically, in March 2022, the Ronin network suffered an attack with about 173,600 ETH and 25.5 million USDC stolen. The official response was to increase validator numbers, relaunch bridges after audits, and compensate users. Such incidents highlight the need for extra caution with cross-chain operations or large transfers.
Best practices: Only install wallets from official sources and access DApps through verified links; back up mnemonic phrases offline; never enter them on any website; keep approvals small and revocable; start with small test transactions; use trusted networks/devices; stay updated with project security announcements.
Ronin Wallet is optimized for the Ronin ecosystem, featuring built-in asset management, DApp connectivity, and streamlined bridging—tailored for gaming scenarios. MetaMask and other general-purpose wallets can connect to compatible chains by adding custom networks but may offer less seamless compatibility with certain Ronin-based applications.
If you focus mainly on gaming or asset trading on the Ronin chain, Ronin Wallet is ideal. For multi-chain activity or managing assets across different networks, consider using it alongside general-purpose wallets—but always ensure you know which network you’re interacting with and what fees apply.
Ronin Wallet is a non-custodial wallet tailored for the gaming-centric Ronin chain. Its core functions include managing RON, AXS, SLP, and NFTs; connecting with DApps; and supporting cross-chain operations. Key usage steps: install the wallet, back up your mnemonic phrase securely, prepare some RON for fees, move funds as needed via Gate or Ronin Bridge. Prioritize key security and approval management—small tests and careful verification of networks/tokens help minimize risk. As the Ronin ecosystem expands into more games, Ronin Wallet will remain a central hub for asset management and interaction—making it well-suited for blockchain gaming experiences.
Ronin Wallet primarily supports Axie Infinity and other games and applications within the Ronin ecosystem. Beyond Axie Infinity, more on-chain applications are integrating with Ronin Wallet as the ecosystem grows. Check official app stores for the latest list of supported applications to stay updated on new integrations.
If you forget your password, you’ll need your recovery phrase (mnemonic phrase) saved during wallet creation to restore access. The recovery phrase is the only way to recover your wallet—store it safely offline and never share it with anyone. If you forget both your password and lose your recovery phrase, recovery is impossible; transfer your assets to a new wallet immediately if this occurs.
Ronin Wallet offers both a browser extension (compatible with major browsers like Chrome) and a mobile app (iOS & Android). You can sync accounts between devices using your recovery phrase. It’s recommended to install it on both desktop and mobile for flexibility but be extra cautious when using public devices—ensure your private key information remains secure.
Ronin Wallet operates on the Ronin chain, which offers faster transaction speeds and lower gas fees compared to Ethereum mainnet. The network is optimized for gaming needs—most transactions confirm within seconds—making it ideal for high-frequency gaming actions and asset transfers.
Ronin Wallet supports creating or importing multiple accounts on a single device. In the browser extension, use the account switcher to toggle between accounts quickly; the mobile app also enables multi-account management. Each account has its own recovery phrase and private key—store each one securely and clearly label their purposes for easy organization.
