Besent: Temporarily allows India to purchase Russian oil stranded at sea

Odaily Planet Daily reported that U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen stated that to ensure the continued flow of oil into the global market, the Treasury Department has issued a 30-day temporary exemption allowing Indian refiners to purchase Russian oil. This temporary short-term measure will not provide significant economic benefits to the Russian government, as it only approves transactions involving oil already stranded at sea. We believe India will increase its purchases of U.S. oil, and this temporary measure will help alleviate the pressure caused by Iran’s attempts to hijack the global energy supply. (Jin10)
