I am a father of two children, and I bought two bitcoins for them.

A father on Reddit shared that, due to concerns about war, inflation, and AI replacing jobs, he decided to buy two bitcoins for his two sons. This was not out of greed but to break the cycle of poverty and provide a safeguard that cannot be taken away by the government or banks.

Earlier today, on the Bitcoin discussion board of the American forum Reddit, a father turned his anxiety about the future into love and adventure for his children. His post reveals the helplessness and resilience of ordinary people facing major environmental changes.

I am not a financial expert, nor a crypto master. I am just a father. Looking at the world situation this week—war with Iran, soaring oil prices, losing 92,000 jobs in a month, robots replacing workers… I can’t help but think: Living costs will never go back.

So I did something extremely bold, beyond what a father’s sense of security should be. I saved diligently and finally bought 2 bitcoins, one for each of my two sons.

Every cent here is earned by me. Not inherited, not gifted. It’s the result of long workdays, late nights, and sacrifices no one sees but I choose to make silently. Because there are two young faces at home counting on me.

I don’t know if Bitcoin will someday reach a million dollars or go to zero. No one does. Anyone claiming to know is lying. But what I do know is: the system we were promised at birth—where working hard and saving diligently could ensure a good life—is becoming less trustworthy every year. Rents are rising, prices are climbing, and the gap between the wealthy who inherit wealth and those who start from nothing is widening.

I had nothing as a child, and I refuse to let my kids start from zero.

So, this is a letter to them. I’m posting it here because maybe some of you are in the same situation. We are ordinary people, not wealthy, just trying to get by.

To my children, M.T and O.T:

When you read this, Bitcoin will either have changed your lives or taught us both a lesson. Whatever the outcome, I want you to know I tried.

I carry uncertainty and fear, but I still bought. This is not out of greed, but out of love. I want to give you something that cannot be diluted by inflation, frozen by banks, or taken away during an economic crisis—because I’ve seen too much taken from us.

I am holding (HODLing) for you. Through every crash, every collapse, every news story claiming it’s over. I persist because my belief in your future outweighs my fear of risk.

If this works—if this decision helps lift you out of the poverty I was born into—I hope you will give back to society. Because that’s the real dream I see in Bitcoin: not Lamborghinis or wealth, but a world where more people have the opportunity to strive.

HODLers, stay strong. We’re not just investing in an asset; some of us are investing in our children’s future.

🧡 Father of two. Holder of 2 BTC. Half fear, half hope.

(Not financial advice. Just a father doing his best for M.T and O.T.)

Update: Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I just hope one day my children will read this Reddit post and know I truly tried.

To my sons: If I am no longer here and you are reading this, remember, I think of you every day. If I ever caused you trouble, please forgive me; if you have tolerated me, thank you.

I love you, boys. This love surpasses any words I could leave behind.

Your dad, W 🧡
