Gate News reports that on March 11, Elon Musk announced that Macrohard or Digital Optimus is a joint project between xAI and Tesla, as part of Tesla and xAI’s investment agreement. Grok serves as the main controller/navigator, with a deep understanding of the world, responsible for commanding Digital Optimus. Digital Optimus will process and execute real-time computer screen videos and keyboard/mouse operations from the past 5 seconds.
Musk compares Digital Optimus AI to System 1 (the instinctive part of the brain), while Grok is System 2 (the thinking part of the brain). The system will run on the ultra-low-cost Tesla AI4 ($650), while also relatively efficiently utilizing higher-priced xAI Nvidia hardware, making it the only real-time intelligent AI system.
Musk pointed out that, in principle, Digital Optimus AI can simulate the entire operation of a company, which is why the program is named MACROHARD—a playful jab at Microsoft. Currently, no other company can do this.
