Gate News reports that on March 18, ByteDance Seed researcher and head of video generation model Seedance 2.0 pretraining Zeng Yan recently received a promotion, reaching the new rank of 4-2 (corresponding to ByteDance’s new rank system L7). She achieved a double jump within a year from 3-2. Zeng Yan was born in 1997, earned her bachelor’s degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and later obtained a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Montreal in Canada. In 2021, she joined ByteDance AILab as a campus recruit, focusing on video generation and multimodal pretraining research. In 2023, she joined the newly established large model research department Seed with her team. In 2024, she published the video generation model PixelDance (Make Pixels Dance, predecessor of the Seedance series) as the first author at CVPR. The same year, she was promoted from algorithm engineer to algorithm researcher. Her current team is the Seed Multimodal Interaction and World Model Team, led by Wu Yonghui.
