The summit between Trump and Putin ended hurriedly after just a few hours, with even the scheduled lunch meeting being canceled, and Putin immediately took a special plane back to Russia.
This is the first meeting between the two after 6 years. Trump seems to have taken advantage of the home court and adopted a "carrot and stick" strategy towards Putin during the talks.
It is worth noting that the originally planned one-on-one talks were ultimately adjusted to involve three participants from both the US and Russia. The US representatives are Secretary of State Rubio and presidential envoy Whittaker, while the Russian side consists of Foreign Minister Lavrov and presidential assistant Ushakov.
The conclusion of the "Trump-Putin meeting" came faster than expected. After nearly three hours of negotiations and a brief press conference, Putin set off to return home, and Trump also immediately headed back to Washington, with the lunch arrangements for both delegations being canceled at the last minute.
