#BTC Reserve Market Impact

The share of the first cryptocurrency held by hodlers for more than seven years has reached a record high of 14.3 million BTC. This is evidenced by data from Glassnode.
Since the beginning of the year, the indicator has increased by 422,430 BTC. The metric accounts for investor assets that prefer to hold Bitcoin in the long term rather than trade, reducing the liquid supply on exchanges. The sustained accumulation trend by such players (LTH) reflects an increase in confidence in the prospects of the first cryptocurrency.
According to Fidelity's forecast, by 2025, LTH and corporate treasuries could withdraw more than 6 million BTC from circulation, which will increase the shortage and may support the price of digital gold. The company notes that the share of Bitcoin among holders has been gradually increasing since 2016. The volume of coins on the balances of public companies with portfolios of at least 1000 BTC has also been steadily increasing since 2020.
The total reserves of the first cryptocurrency on corporate balances and held by ETFs have increased by 30% since the beginning of the year — from 2.24 million BTC to the current 2.88 million BTC.
The increase in the indicator reflects the ongoing concentration of the supply of digital gold among institutional and other large players.
Whales and "sharks" are accumulating coins at a record pace — about 300% of the annual issuance volume. At the same time, the reserves of the first cryptocurrency on exchanges are rapidly declining — the indicator reached -150%.
The current situation reflects the growing interest in self-custodial ( storage of crypto assets and long-term investment strategies.
