Odaily Planet Daily reports that Vitalik Buterin posted on social media analyzing the differences between “corposlop web” (corporate garbage content networks) and “sovereign networks.” He defines “corposlop” as a combination of corporate optimization capabilities, seemingly respectable brand images, and unscrupulous behaviors undertaken to maximize profits. Vitalik Buterin states that “corposlop” is a soulless, trend-following, both evil and clumsy homogeneous product.
He points out that the meaning of “sovereign” has now expanded, not only referring to avoiding government coercion but also to protecting digital privacy through encryption technology and safeguarding one’s thoughts from corporate spiritual warfare aimed at extracting users’ attention and money.
He calls on developers to build more sovereign tools, such as privacy-protecting local-first applications, user-controlled social media platforms, financial tools that do not encourage 50x leverage or sports betting, open and friendly AI tools, and DAOs pursuing unique goals. He concludes: “Maintain sovereignty, reject corposlop, believe in somETHing.”
