Grayscale Files for BNB ETF With the SEC Under the Ticker 'GBNB'
Source: CoinEdition Original Title: Grayscale Files for BNB ETF With the SEC Under the Ticker ‘GBNB’ Original Link:
Overview
Leading digital asset management company, Grayscale, filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the Grayscale BNB ETF on Friday. If approved, the product will allow Grayscale to hold BNB, a digital asset based on an open-source cryptographic protocol existing on the BNB Smart Chain.
Grayscale BNB ETF Will Have the Ticker GBNB
In an S-1 filing, Grayscale informed the SEC that the fund is sponsored by Grayscale Investments Sponsors, LLC and incorporated in Delaware. Approving the filing will allow Grayscale to offer a spot ETF product, the Grayscale BNB ETF, with the ticker GBNB. Grayscale also highlighted plans to list the ETF product on the Nasdaq Stock Market LLC.
For context, BNB is the native token of the BNB Chain, a blockchain protocol closely linked to a major cryptocurrency exchange. BNB currently ranks fourth by market capitalization, with over $121 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.
Besides listing on Nasdaq, Grayscale’s filing reveals that the investment company will use the Bank of New York Mellon as its transfer agent for the ETF product, and a regulated custody provider will serve as its custodian.
Only the Second BNB ETF Proposal Yet
The latest filing makes Grayscale the second company to propose a BNB ETF to the SEC. VanEck led the way in May 2025, when it filed to provide BNB ETF services for institutional and retail investors with regulated exposure.
In the meantime, it is worth noting that Grayscale’s BNB ETF filing aligns with the ongoing surge in crypto ETF applications over the past year. The new trend is fueled by more favorable regulatory and political conditions for digital assets in the U.S., which is having a ripple effect worldwide.
If approved, GBNB will join the growing list of ETF products under Grayscale’s portfolio, following Chainlink, Dogecoin, XRP, Bitcoin, and Ethereum, among others.
