The year is almost over.
The kids in the village are gradually going out to work.
Some just graduated and haven't found a suitable job, so they go out to try their luck;
Some dropped out early, working in factories, on construction sites, or delivering food—anything to make a living.
Lately, neighbors and friends keep coming by, and as we chat, they often mention me:
“You’re the only college student in our village. In the future, if you get the chance, you should help out your younger brothers and sisters at home. They’re willing to work hard, but they just don’t have the connections.”
Every time I hear this, I’m stunned on the spot, not knowing how to respond.
My heart feels both sour and bitter.
I understand their struggles, how difficult employment is, and how hard it is to succeed without connections or education.
I really want to help, truly.
But only I know that as the “only college student in the village,” I’m just an ordinary person outside.
No resources, no connections, no ability to be someone’s “guide,” even my own future is somewhat uncertain.
It’s not that I don’t want to help; I just really can’t.
I can only smile and respond, but inside I feel heavy, letting out a long sigh… Keep going!💛
