I spent this past weekend at my dad's place and talked with him about the history of our hometown, from the late Qing Dynasty through the Republic of China period to the early years after liberation and the reform and opening-up era, covering various events that occurred during these times. The most significant historical event happened during the Qing Dynasty, when our village and a neighboring village had a major armed conflict over disputes involving resource and economic interests. Both sides engaged in large-scale killings, and there were even instances of them displaying severed heads at the village entrance as a form of intimidation and warning. Ultimately, our village emerged victorious from this conflict.
