According to monitoring data from the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) and Lloyd's List, the number of oil tankers passing through the strait has decreased by approximately 94% since the escalation of conflict on February 28, 2026.

Under normal circumstances, about 130-150 various vessels pass through the strait daily. However, on March 1, only 3 oil tankers were recorded; from March 2 to 3, the traffic nearly came to a halt.
But after Trump announced the protection of oil tankers,
a large number of oil tankers associated with the western side have proactively turned off AIS signals to avoid precise strikes. The surge in "dark ships" activity has increased.
