The first meeting of the Council took place in Edinburgh on Thursday night and the group aims to hold future meetings in both London and Scotland.

The Council is a response to the major uptick agentic AI innovation taking place throughout the industry. AAEC aims to bring together fintech and AI leaders to ensure protocols are in place to control and maintain security and transparency in developing AI agents.

Kent Mackenzie, regtech adviser at Aveni, said: “AI agents represent a step change in how decisions are made within financial services. Assurance models and frameworks built for human-led processes are no longer sufficient. The Agent Assurance Expert Council is about bringing the industry together to define how we maintain control, transparency and trust as these systems scale. Collaboration will be essential to ensuring we meet regulatory expectations while continuing to innovate responsibly.”

Last month, Aveni completed a pilot of its Agent Assurance in the Financial Conduct Authority’s first Supercharged Sandbox, showcasing the secure deployment of agentic AI in a regulated environment.

In 2025, Aveni launched a domain-specific large language model backed by Lloyds and Nationwide.
