# Hotel Secret Code
The other day I went on a business trip with a female coworker.
The client paid promptly, so we treated them to dinner in the evening. Afterward, my coworker and I planned to take a taxi to a star-rated hotel. The taxi fare was 40 yuan, and I gave the driver 50 yuan, telling him to keep the change. The driver was quite happy and leaned close to my ear, whispering: "Young man, when you get to the hotel and the front desk asks for your ID to open a room, quietly draw a circle on your ID card, and you'll get a pleasant surprise that's meant for you."
I rarely visit this city, and at the time I was completely confused, not understanding what he was getting at.
When we arrived at the hotel, I told the staff I wanted to book two single rooms and handed over my ID and my female coworker's ID. I even deliberately drew a circle on the ID card, though I didn't draw it well—I went around half an extra circle.
The staff member stared at me in bewilderment. Suddenly their eyes became determined. As they handed back the IDs, they winked at me and said:
"Sorry, you two, our hotel only has one room left right now, but it's a suite and it's perfectly fine for two people to stay. What do you think?"
I finally understood what the driver meant, but he clearly didn't know anything about my female coworker's background: she was a university women's sanda (Chinese kickboxing) champion! 😂😂😂
