Odaily Star Daily News EigenDA said in a post that rollups on the mainnet can currently use EigenDA for free, and all rollups are welcome to publish blobs to EigenDA on the Ethereum mainnet.
To prevent witch/DDoS attacks on the free layer, the team has deployed an allowlist authenticated by IP or ETH address ECDSA. The free unlicensed layer is currently 6 blobs of 128KB per batch, totaling 768KB every 10 minutes, but partners can work with EigenDA to seek to increase this metric.
In contrast, the free layer throughput of EigenDA exceeds the throughput used by the most commonly used rollup on Ethereum (e.g., Base releases less than 1 blob every 10 minutes).
The official stated that it is currently committed to achieving permissionless payment for blob throughput on EigenDA, which will be released later this year. When the system is launched, EigenDA will still provide reserved bandwidth for high-throughput use cases at a fixed rate.
EigenDA is currently generating synthetic loads at a rate of 0.6 MB/s and has been running load tests on the mainnet with a peak throughput of up to 10 MB/s. In comparison, Ethereum has a throughput of 4844 blobs at 0.032 MB/s, and Celestia's mainnet is at 1/6 MB/s.
