Iran Official Says Hopes for Positive U.S. Negotiations, Holds Unrevealed "Cards"

Boroujerdi highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Mandeb, comparing it to the Strait of Hormuz, and suggested that Yemen may take action against the strait at an appropriate time, potentially delivering new strikes against the U.S. He noted that Iran-U.S. negotiations are proceeding under the guidance of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei and are personally chaired by Parliament Speaker Kalibaff, expressing Iran’s expectation for a successful outcome.

The Iranian official dismissed U.S. President Trump’s threats against Iran as baseless, stating they would damage American credibility without producing results. Boroujerdi reaffirmed that Iran will not relinquish control of the Strait of Hormuz and emphasized Iran’s military capabilities—including missiles, tanks, and unmanned drones—are sufficient to sustain prolonged conflict.
