Ripple Prime has won the Best Prime Broker award at the 2026 Hedge Fund Services Awards Europe, a recognition that market analyst Xaif Crypto argues signals the emergence of XRP’s institutional era. The award comes from traditional hedge fund and institutional finance circles rather than the crypto industry, marking a shift in how Ripple Prime is positioned within institutional finance.
Ripple’s Institutional Infrastructure Build
Ripple Prime’s institutional standing accelerated following Ripple’s acquisition of Hidden Road in October, which was subsequently rebranded as Ripple Prime. Hidden Road brought an established institutional footprint across foreign exchange, derivatives, and credit markets. Under Ripple’s ownership, this foundation is being extended into decentralized finance, combining traditional prime brokerage services with blockchain-based settlement infrastructure.
The integration links two financial systems that have historically operated separately. As stated in the source, “this integration is where XRP’s long-term narrative starts to take shape.”
Expanding Institutional Access and XRP’s Role
While XRP is not directly used by institutions in a visible retail capacity, its relevance grows within Ripple’s ecosystem infrastructure. Institutional adoption typically begins with backend functions including settlement efficiency, liquidity routing, collateral mobility, and cross-border value transfer.
Ripple Prime has already expanded institutional access to gold, silver, and oil perpetual contracts on Hyperliquid, extending beyond crypto-native products into traditional commodity markets. Additionally, Ripple Prime is connected to the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) infrastructure, while the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has been exploring faster tokenization frameworks.
These operational developments indicate what the source describes as “a gradual convergence between legacy market systems and tokenized liquidity rails.” Within this structure, XRP is increasingly positioned closer to institutional-grade flow than at any previous point in its history.
