The numbers for stablecoins are already astonishing—total market capitalization exceeding $300 billion, annual trading volume soaring to $27.6 trillion, a figure that has already surpassed the combined total of Visa and MasterCard. But along with these impressive figures, some old problems have surfaced: high fees often costing several dollars, slow confirmation times that tire users, and the need to accumulate native tokens to pay for Gas.

The reality is quite harsh. Transferring USDT on Ethereum can eat up several dollars in fees per transaction; although Tron is faster, it still experiences minutes of delay during congestion. These friction costs have effectively confined stablecoins within the crypto circle, preventing them from entering mainstream payment and cross-border remittance channels.

A turning point has arrived. Recently, a project called Plasma (XPL) has emerged, claiming to overhaul this ecosystem. Backed by a strong team from top institutions, it has raised $74 million in funding rounds and is valued at $500 million. Its straightforward promise is clear: zero fees for USDT transfers, with confirmation speeds approaching sub-second levels.

In other words, this new public chain aims to simplify payments to the extreme—offering the convenience of Alipay combined with the security attributes of Bitcoin. Once the costs and speeds of payments are truly addressed, the global penetration of digital dollars could see a real explosion. This is not just a new public chain; it’s more like a redefinition of the stablecoin ecosystem.

Another "revolutionary" solution? I think we should wait and see.

Zero fees? Haha, just wait and see, something will definitely go wrong sooner or later.

A transaction volume of 27.6 trillion sounds impressive, but if friction costs aren't addressed, it's just a paper figure. The argument about Plasma's zero transaction fees depends on the actual collateralization rate and liquidation thresholds set after on-chain deployment; otherwise, it's just a rebranding without real change.

Zero fees? Sub-second? Sounds great, but can Plasma really make this happen, or is it just another PowerPoint dream...

Zero fees? Sounds plausible, but will it really go live?

I'm tired of hearing about zero fees. Let's wait until it's truly launched before bragging.

Zero fees sound great, but I feel like this might become the next air project... A handsome funding amount doesn't necessarily mean it can get things done.
