Wu said that Vitalik Buterin proposed to directly incorporate distributed validator technology (DVT) into Ethereum's staking protocol layer to reduce single point of failure risks and enhance decentralization. This "native DVT" design allows validators to register multiple independent keys and set threshold joint signatures, improving fault tolerance while maintaining slashing security. Protocol-level integration can reduce operational complexity, decrease reliance on large staking service providers, and improve decentralization metrics such as the Nakamoto coefficient. The plan is still in the proposal stage and requires further community review and consensus.
