Team Baiko, a core member of the Ethereum Foundation, announced on January 10th via the X platform that he plans to significantly adjust his future job focus. Baiko stated that he will step back from the existing L1 protocol development role and instead concentrate on exploring innovative applications based on cryptography within Ethereum. This indicates that Ethereum is gradually moving from the infrastructure-building stage to a stage of practical application.
Transition from L1 Protocol Development to Cryptography Application Focus
In his statement, Baiko said, “Currently, the Ethereum protocol is already close to final completion,” expressing that the development of applications based on cryptographic technology is now a core task for the ecosystem. He evaluated, “Ethereum’s potential as a permissionless, scalable, cryptoeconomically secure, affordable, and verifiable global computing platform is just beginning to be realized.” This emphasizes that, given the foundational protocol has been sufficiently established, the development of next-generation applications based on cryptographic innovation is a very important phase.
Organizational Restructuring for the Development of the Ethereum Ecosystem
Baiko will remain as a protocol advisor at the Ethereum Foundation to continue supporting organizational operations and ecosystem collaboration. Meanwhile, regarding the Cryptography Development Association(ACDE), Ansgar has agreed to extend his interim chairmanship, and Baiko also stated that he will actively participate until a systematic long-term operational plan is established. This personnel adjustment clearly demonstrates that the Ethereum ecosystem is evolving from the protocol stabilization phase toward diverse cryptography-based application development.
