Moldovan anti-corruption agency uncovers a conspiracy to fund influence operations for the 2025 parliamentary elections using cryptocurrency, involving over $107 million USDT transferred through non-custodial wallets. The tracked funds flow to platforms in Russia and Kyrgyzstan, where they are exchanged for cash used to bribe voters and finance political activities. Blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs links this operation to the Russia-backed InfoLider campaign and points out that the so-called subsidiary TokenSpot of sanctioned exchange Garantex is a key node.
