“International Major City Influence Index Report 2025” was released in Lausanne, Switzerland, on the 25th. The report shows that Beijing and Shanghai have entered the ranks of leading international major cities for sporting events. The report was published at the “Sports Development and Urban Growth” academic seminar held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne on the same day. According to the report, the index constructs a systematic evaluation system covering major global event cities from dimensions such as sports city DNA, event operation capability, industry collaboration ecosystem, and global connectivity. The assessment results indicate that global major event cities have initially formed a tiered distribution pattern of “leading” and “catch-up” types. Among them, Beijing, Berlin, Doha, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Sydney, and Tokyo, with strong sports foundations, high-level event operation capabilities, and significant global influence, are recognized as “leading” influence cities for international events; cities like Abu Dhabi, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Milan are classified as “growing” major event cities, demonstrating strong development potential and upward momentum.
