Commerce Minister Wang Wentao Meets with South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-gwan

On March 18, Minister of Commerce Wang Wen-tao met with South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Joo-hyun in Beijing. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening China-South Korea economic and trade cooperation.

Wang Wen-tao stated that this year marks the beginning of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. China will continue to promote high-quality development and unwaveringly expand high-level opening-up, which will bring more opportunities for China-Korea cooperation. China is willing to work with Korea to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, accelerate the second phase of China-Korea free trade agreement negotiations, maintain the stability of industrial and supply chains, deepen cooperation in trade and investment, strengthen regional and multilateral cooperation frameworks such as the World Trade Organization and APEC, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Korea economic and trade relations.

Kim Joo-hyun said that South Korea is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, accelerate the second phase of China-Korea free trade agreement negotiations, and maintain close communication on issues such as ensuring the stability and smooth operation of industrial and supply chains through bilateral mechanisms like the China-Korea supply chain cooperation hotline and export control dialogues.
