Ford remains the largest automaker in the U.S. by recall volume, recalling nearly 4.4 million vehicles due to lighting system defects.
IT Home, February 26 — According to Bloomberg, Ford Motor Company will recall nearly 4.4 million vehicles. Affected models include certain 2021 to 2026 F-150 pickups, as well as Expedition SUVs and Ranger and Maverick pickups, all of which are important sales models for Ford.
IT Home learned from the report that Ford is the largest recall issuer in the United States in 2025.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the recall is due to a software defect that could cause the trailer taillights, turn signals, and brake systems on affected vehicles to lose communication with the vehicle and stop working, increasing the risk of accidents.
Ford said the issue violates federal safety standards and could weaken drivers’ control over trailers and reduce their visibility on the road. However, no accidents or injuries related to this issue have been reported so far.
Ford plans to fix the trailer control modules via over-the-air software updates, and owners can also visit dealerships for free repairs.
