【Introduction】Car companies’ “Humanoid Robot” News Surges, GAC and XPeng Make Major Progress

Recently, news about car companies developing humanoid robots has been concentrated.

On the evening of February 26, GAC Group (601238) announced the incubation and establishment of Guangdong Huilun Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Huilun Technology), marking a new stage of independent development and large-scale breakthrough in the robotics industry.

At the Guangzhou High-Quality Development Conference held on February 25, XPeng’s full-chain humanoid robot mass production base was officially presented as a key “opening success” project in Tianhe District.

An industry insider responsible for robotics at a car company told China Fund News that the humanoid robot industry faces two core challenges: insufficient high-quality training data and the difficulty of large-scale mass production.

GAC’s Embodied Intelligence Sector Operates Independently

GAC Group stated that as the core carrier of GAC’s embodied intelligence sector, Huilun Technology will operate independently in the market, fully undertaking GAC’s business in the embodied intelligence field.

Tianyancha shows that Huilun Technology was established on February 12, 2026, with a registered capital of 83.02 million yuan. Its largest shareholder, GAC Group, holds a 49.3879% stake.

Huilun Technology’s business scope includes services and sales of consumer service robots, manufacturing of special operation robots, sales and manufacturing of industrial robots, and research, development, and sales of intelligent robots.

GAC Group said that Huilun Technology will focus on R&D, production, sales, and services of embodied intelligent robots, deepening core technological fields, and striving to create robot products that are both technologically advanced and practically applicable.

Currently, Huilun Technology has established full-stack self-developed capabilities including structural design, system platform, small brain motion control algorithms, and brain intelligent perception and decision-making algorithms, successfully developing four generations of embodied intelligent robot products.

At the same time, Huilun Technology has achieved breakthroughs in core components such as axial flux motors, integrated joint modules, actuators, and dexterous hands.

Car companies’ “humanoid robot” development still faces multiple difficulties. An industry insider told the reporter that the humanoid robot industry has not yet formed a mature hardware and software supply chain, and the “software-driven hardware” design model requires extremely high capabilities in full-stack self-research and cross-industry integration.

As of the close on February 26, GAC Group’s A-shares traded at 8 yuan per share, with a total market value of 68.47 billion yuan.

Car Companies Accelerate Toward Large-Scale Embodied Intelligence, GAC and XPeng Provide Timelines

Recently, several senior executives in the robotics industry have predicted that 2026 will be the “commercialization year” for the robotics industry.

GAC Group stated that the establishment of Huilun Technology marks a new phase of industrialization for GAC’s embodied intelligence strategy.

Huilun Technology plans to initiate small-batch trial production of core products in 2026, while simultaneously creating benchmark security applications, aiming for large-scale mass production by 2027.

Additionally, Huilun Technology has reached a strategic cooperation with Guangzhou Development Zone and Huangpu District on February 26, with the headquarters to be located in Huangpu District.

GAC Group said that relying on GAC’s industrial foundation and the diverse business scenarios of Huangpu District, Huilun Technology will gain rich industrial ecological support, efficiently completing the business model closed loop.

According to its official website, GAC Group is a large joint-stock automotive enterprise group listed on both A-shares and H-shares, with main businesses covering R&D, complete vehicles, parts, energy and ecology, internationalization, commerce and mobility, investment, and finance.

Compared to the schedule for robot mass production, XPeng is more aggressive than GAC.

On February 24, XPeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng issued a startup announcement stating that XPeng’s new generation IRON robot will begin mass production by the end of 2026, aiming to become the world’s first high-end humanoid robot to achieve large-scale production.

This layout of XPeng’s full-chain humanoid robot mass production base is an important step toward achieving mass production of high-end humanoid robots.

According to the plan, XPeng’s full-chain humanoid robot mass production base will be located in the Guitang Science and Technology Innovation City embodied intelligence industrial park, which will fully meet the space needs of embodied intelligence companies at different stages, from R&D verification and small-batch trial production to large-scale manufacturing.

As of the close on February 26, XPeng’s Hong Kong stock price was HKD 67.50 per share, with a total market value of HKD 129 billion.
