German Chancellor Merz speaks with US President Trump discussing Middle East and Ukraine situation
People’s Financial News, March 23 — On the afternoon of the 22nd local time, German Chancellor Merz and U.S. President Trump held a telephone call to exchange views on current international hot spots. Merz stated on social media that during the call, both sides focused on the situations in Iran, Israel, and Ukraine, and agreed to maintain close communication and continue exchanges in the near future. The German federal government did not provide further details about the call. This conversation took place after weeks of ongoing conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. Previously, Germany had stated it would not participate in U.S.-led military actions. Merz recently revealed during a campaign event that he would speak with Trump this weekend and mentioned that there have been some recent disagreements in their relationship. (CCTV News)
