** 【Caixin.com】** After establishing model development as its top priority, Cursor’s new model has become embroiled in an infringement controversy. In response to widespread doubts about whether the new model Composer-2 was fine-tuned from the Moon Shadow Kimi K2.5 model, Cursor’s co-founder and COO Aman Sanger confirmed on March 21.

On March 19, Cursor released its next-generation programming model Composer-2, which is claimed to offer performance between OpenAI GPT-5.4 (high) and Anthropic Claude Opus 4.6 (high) at a lower cost. However, developers who used it found that the model ID in its code was “Kimi-k2p5,” leading to the assertion that Composer-2 is a reinforced learning version of K2.5.
