China News Service Beijing, March 19 (Reporter Xu Jing) — “This area is a forest fire prevention zone. All personnel are prohibited from smoking. Please extinguish your cigarettes voluntarily, do not bring lighters or other fire sources into the park, and work together to create a safe and comfortable environment for visitors.” On March 19, at the National Botanical Garden (North Garden), an intelligent robot was demonstrating a “patrol” to visitors, providing friendly reminders and smart management for uncivilized behaviors.

The “Building Garden Cities, Advocating Civilized Park Visits” citywide civility promotion event was held at the National Botanical Garden (North Garden) on the same day. Sub-venues were set up at Lucheng Gucheng Ruins Park, Ditan Park, Madiang Park, and others. All parks across Beijing coordinated to continuously enhance the city’s “City of a Thousand Parks” civility image.

At the event site, the Beijing Parks Management Center and the Beijing Urban Management Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau issued civility tips to visitors. Representatives of visitors read the “Beijing Park Visitor Code of Conduct 2026,” jointly issued a civility advocacy for park visits, urging visitors to start with themselves, consciously practice civilized behaviors, and protect the green homeland together.

The event included interactive activities such as civility knowledge quizzes, attracting many citizens to participate. Meanwhile, volunteers distributed brochures explaining specific behavioral norms for civilized park visits, encouraging the public to jointly maintain the urban green environment.

In recent years, Beijing has steadily entered a new stage of developing a “City of a Thousand Parks.” Parks have become vital carriers of urban ecological construction, happy spaces for citizens’ leisure lives, and important windows to showcase the capital’s civilized image. Combining practical park management with citizens’ needs, the park authorities promote the concept of civilized park visits through comprehensive publicity, immersive interactions, and normalized guidance, deepening the public’s awareness and encouraging citizens and visitors to jointly protect the city’s green ecological space.

The Beijing Parks Management Center will continue to promote the coordinated governance of “human defense + technical defense,” using digital means to improve park management efficiency, making civility advocacy more precise and efficient. It is reported that this year, ten types of robots and smart devices—including patrol robots, intelligent explanation robots, internet insect monitoring lamps, and smart rescue rings—will be deployed in 14 municipal parks. By expanding the scale of park robot applications and innovating scenarios, the level of smart park management services will be improved.

During the event, the main venue and sub-venues simultaneously launched a series of special activities. Through display boards, banners, posters, and other forms, they promoted knowledge about civilized park visits and held fun civility quiz interactions. Volunteers conducted civility guidance, order maintenance, environmental cleaning, and convenient services in key park areas, providing visitors with park navigation.

Liu Guodong, Deputy Director of the Beijing Parks Management Center, stated that civilized park visits are an important part of building a civilized city. Parks, as the core public open spaces of the city, are not only the “lungs” of the city but also vibrant centers that carry cultural memories and transmit civilizational ideas. The Beijing Parks Management Center will continue to carry out ongoing publicity activities on civilized park visits to create a good atmosphere of participation and shared responsibility. (End)
