FBI arrests a former Olympic skier suspected of using cryptocurrency to transfer drug proceeds

PANews January 24 News, according to Coindesk, Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder, was charged by U.S. authorities with using cryptocurrency for drug trafficking. He has been captured in Mexico and extradited back to the United States.
U.S. authorities arrested Canadian former snowboarder Ryan Wedding on Friday and apprehended a drug lord suspected of using cryptocurrency networks to transfer and launder his criminal proceeds. Ryan Wedding was previously listed among the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted for alleged drug trafficking and murder. According to the FBI, Ryan Wedding has links to the Sinaloa drug cartel and was sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control in November.
