Odaily Planet Daily reported that, according to Politico, U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen hinted on Friday in Davos that due to the 25% tariffs imposed by the United States leading to a significant decline in India’s purchases of Russian oil, the U.S. may cancel this additional tariff targeting India and called this move a “huge success.” Yellen told Politico that, under the impact of U.S. tariffs, India’s refineries’ procurement of Russian oil has “collapsed.” He implied that although the tariffs are still in effect, as long as India shifts its energy sources, there is a diplomatic “path” to cancel the tariffs, and asserted that these trade measures have brought substantial benefits to the U.S. economy.
