Democratic senators in the US Senate vow to block Homeland Security Department funding, risking another government shutdown

BlockBeats News, January 25 — According to The Wall Street Journal, on Saturday, Democratic senators in the U.S. Senate stated that they would rather see most government agencies shut down than vote in favor of a funding bill that includes immigration enforcement funds.

Previously, Minneapolis experienced another deadly shooting incident. Senate Minority Leader and New York Democrat Chuck Schumer said in a statement, “The incident in Minnesota is shocking — it is unacceptable in any city in the United States.” He indicated that if Department of Homeland Security funding is included, Senate Democrats will not provide the votes needed for the Republican-led federal agency funding bill.
