On March 11, local time, the Brazilian Ministry of Health confirmed the first case of infection with the Ib strain of the monkeypox virus branch in the country. According to the Ministry of Health, the patient is a 29-year-old woman living in São Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, who has been in contact with a family member who has been in contact with a family member in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which is currently facing the spread of monkeypox.
