Gate News updates, April 9, Bitcoin ATM operator Bitcoin Depot filed a document with the U.S. SEC disclosing that the company suffered a cybersecurity attack on March 23. The hackers gained access to digital asset settlement account credentials by compromising its IT systems, stealing about 50.9 BTC from the company’s wallets, worth approximately $3.665 million. After the incident, the company has initiated its emergency response procedures, hired external cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation, and notified law enforcement agencies. The company said that its customer platform and user data were not affected. The incident has been classified by the company as a material matter, or could lead to reputation damage and additional costs related to legal, regulatory, and other issues.
