The Saudi base has faced multiple drone and missile attacks since the conflict erupted, resulting in damage to critical equipment and casualties. The deployment of Ukrainian combat-proven technology reflects the U.S. military’s efforts to address shortfalls in countering low-cost drone threats.
Analysts note that as unmanned systems scale in modern warfare, traditional air defense architecture faces structural challenges, with no universal solution currently available to counter all threat types.
