Independent reporter Ken Klippenstein reported on April 27 that the suspect Cole Tomas Allen (31) in the alleged White House press dinner shooting identified himself as a “born-again Christian” on his Bluesky social media account and repeatedly compared Donald Trump to “the Antichrist,” and on April 13 responded to an AI Jesus image Trump posted.
According to Klippenstein’s report, Allen graduated from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2017 with a degree in mechanical engineering, and afterward worked on precision hardware development at the Southern California engineering firm IJK Controls LLC, with application areas including drones, satellites, and military targeting systems.
According to the publicly available Bluesky account records of Allen cited by Klippenstein, Allen described himself as a born-again Christian and, in multiple posts, compared Donald Trump to “the Antichrist.” On April 13, 2026, in response to an AI-generated image posted by Trump—depicting Trump healing patients while wearing a long robe in the likeness of Jesus—Allen cited Revelation 14:11 in his reply: “And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, those who worship the beast and its image, or anyone who receives the mark of its name.” Klippenstein wrote in his report that Allen’s strong reaction to this AI Jesus image can be seen in the text recorded in his reporting.
Klippenstein’s report also quotes several of Allen’s former Caltech classmates, saying that Allen was “quite active” in the Christian fellowship, and described him as a “devout Christian with a gentle personality.”
According to a copy of the declaration reported by the New York Post, Allen cited Matthew 5:38-39 (“turn the other cheek”) to indicate that passively accepting oppression is not the kind of conduct Christians should have when others are being persecuted. The original text of the declaration states: “Enduring patiently is what you should do when you are the one who is oppressed … When others are oppressed, repaying evil with good is tantamount to complicity in the crimes of the oppressor.”
The declaration also cited Matthew 22:21 (“Render unto Caesar”) to respond to arguments for political obedience, arguing that the principle of the rule of law is higher than the rule of individuals or minorities. The end of the declaration reads: “Thank you to my family, including my loved ones and church members; thank you for the love you’ve shown me for 31 years.”
According to a public statement by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch, the FBI is investigating whether Allen acted alone. Based on information cited by Klippenstein’s report, including from sources such as senior FBI officials, Allen had never previously been listed on the FBI’s domestic terrorism watch list.
When Trump was interviewed by Fox News, he said: “You read his statement, and you find out he hates Christians—he has a hatred that is just unbelievable.” According to Klippenstein’s report, Allen’s statement content and his public social media record both show the opposite religious stance.
According to Klippenstein’s April 27, 2026 report, Allen described himself as a born-again Christian on his Bluesky public account, had repeatedly compared Trump to the Antichrist, and responded on April 13 to Trump’s AI Jesus image with Revelation 14:11; former classmates also described him as an active member of Caltech’s Christian fellowship.
According to a copy of the declaration reported by the New York Post, Allen cited Matthew 5:38-39 to argue that passively accepting oppression when others are persecuted is tantamount to complicity, and cited Matthew 22:21 to rebut arguments for political obedience with the principle of the rule of law; the declaration provides arguments for his actions within a Christian theological framework.
