#数字资产市场动态 Crypto Investment First Lesson: Peaks Only Exist in Imagination; Learning to Take Profits Is Key to Longevity

Back in 2019, a buddy started with $20,000 and turned it into $300,000 in three months. We all advised him to cash out while the iron was hot, but he was obsessed with the idea that "a million is true freedom." Less than half a year later, his account dropped back to just over $10,000, and he didn't even hold onto his initial capital.

I’ve also fallen into this trap myself. In 2021, during a hot market, my account peaked at 1.8 million USDT. At that time, I only thought, "Just one more doubling and I’ll cash out." But the market doesn’t wait for anyone. By the time I realized it, I was left with only 400,000. Those days, I couldn’t sleep until dawn, repeatedly asking myself, "Why didn’t I take profits earlier?"

That’s when I truly understood: in the crypto world, how high you once stood doesn’t matter; what really counts is what you can put into your wallet in the end.

Later, I set a strict rule for myself: when my position triples, I take out half immediately—no negotiations, no explanations. Only by turning unrealized gains into real cash and putting it into my wallet can I prevent my heart from being hijacked by candlestick charts, and only then can my account grow more steadily.

People often ask, "How much profit is enough?" Honestly, money has no upper limit, but human psychological resilience is finite. The key isn’t how much you earn, but whether you can proactively lock in gains before the market forces you to sell at a loss.

Going solo in crypto is the easiest way to fall into passivity and miss opportunities. Instead of fixating on others’ chances, it’s better to find the right direction and the right strategy to walk with. The path will become clearer, and your mind will feel more at ease.

nah this 3x rule is too conservative... but empirically speaking, dude's right about one thing—the graveyard's full of people who watched 180k become 40k. that's not even tragic, it's just math catching up.

I didn't even hold onto 1.8 million, my mindset is truly hopeless now.

Really, I empathize with the drop from 1.8 million to 400,000. Now I strictly adhere to the three-times take-profit rule.

I deeply felt the drop from 1.8 million to 400,000; it's truly not an alarmist statement.

The drop from 1.8 million to 400,000... I knew what was going on. Human nature is worthless in front of the K-line.
