Walrus has risen from 0.1360 to stabilize at 0.1406. Retail investors are hurriedly cutting losses in fear, while top-tier institutions like a16z and Standard Crypto have already invested over $140 million in deployment. Where exactly is the cognitive gap behind this?

Simply put, most people haven't understood the power of Walrus's RedStuff 2D erasure coding technology. This isn't some marketing gimmick; it's a genuine technological innovation. The decentralized storage field has been facing a choice: either sacrifice security for efficiency or be overwhelmed by high bandwidth costs. Walrus completely reverses this with 2D matrix encoding—data is split into primary and secondary slices stored separately, allowing full recovery even after losing two-thirds of the slices with only a 4.5x replication factor, much lower bandwidth consumption than one-dimensional schemes like Filecoin.

Even more impressive is its "self-healing" mechanism. When a new node joins or a faulty node restarts, only one-third of the nodes need to be queried to restore the slices, solving the long-standing problem of node volatility. Coupled with vector commitments for cryptographic verification, it fundamentally prevents data tampering—performance metrics now rival centralized cloud storage while maintaining the advantages of decentralization.

Beyond technical barriers, Walrus benefits directly as the core data layer of Sui, integrated into Sui's storage fund mechanism. This means it has pre-locked massive storage demand, with a deeply bound ecosystem forming a true moat. The current valuation of $2 billion looks like a floor price from any perspective.

It's another show of retail investors getting exploited. A16Z has long understood this. The gap between institutions and retail investors isn't just a price difference; it's a difference in entire cognitive dimensions. Filecoin should have been crushed by this technology long ago.

Retail investors got cut again this time, institutions have seen through it long ago. To be honest, RedStuff's approach is indeed impressive, but the price aspect still needs to wait for the market to react.

It's the same old technical hype again. The ones truly making money are all accumulating chips.
