【Crypto World】SagaEVM chain experienced a security incident on January 21st. The cause was a vulnerability in the contract sequence deployment within the protocol, which, combined with cross-chain operation logic, gave attackers an opportunity. As a result, approximately $7 million worth of USDC, yUSD, ETH, and tBTC were moved to the Ethereum mainnet.
The official response was quite swift. Once the issue was discovered, the SagaEVM chain was immediately paused at block height 6593800, and an emergency investigation was launched. Simultaneously, they coordinated with major exchanges and cross-chain bridge protocols to blacklist the attacker’s wallet and recover the stolen assets. The team is also working intensively to fix the cross-chain and deployment components to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
It is worth noting that this incident did not affect the chain’s consensus mechanism, validators were not harmed, and private keys were not leaked. The problem was relatively concentrated in the cross-chain interaction area.

Cross-chain security causing trouble again? 7 million dollars just disappeared like that. Luckily, the official response was quick, or it would have been a huge loss.

The cross-chain bridge is causing trouble again, this time 7 million just flew away. To be honest, Saga responded quite quickly, but how come these kinds of vulnerabilities can't be prevented?

The cross-chain bridge has another issue, and 7 million dollars just disappeared. This time, the Saga team responded quite quickly, and at least the validators were not scammed.

$7 million just disappeared like that; cross-chain is still so unreliable.
