該案件涉及一位投資者，他在一月份以₹1,98,516購買了3,532.30 XRP代幣，此時WazirX正經歷大規模的安全漏洞。此次漏洞導致以太坊和ERC-20代幣損失超過$230 百萬，導致交易所無限期凍結用戶帳戶。
投資者主張她的XRP持有與被盜的以太坊資產是分開的，並且交易所將其作爲信托持有。投資者尋求根據仲裁與調解法第9條獲得保護，以防止她的持有被重新分配給其他受影響的用戶。
法院駁回交易所的辯護
Zanmai Labs，WazirX的運營商，反駁了該請願，指出新加坡法院的一項裁決，要求所有用戶以比例方式分擔與黑客相關的損失。該交易所辯稱，新加坡實體Zettai Pte Ltd受其外國管轄權裁決的限制，實際上禁止了對資產的個人索賠。法官Venkatesh絕對拒絕了該辯護，並認爲原告的XRP持有量並未因涉及以太坊的違約而受到影響，應該單獨處理。
