Gate News reports that on March 15, local Argentine media outlet El Destape revealed that evidence from Mauricio Novelli’s phone shows Argentine President Milei is suspected of accepting a $5 million bribe for promoting LIBRA tokens. According to a document recovered from the phone dated February 11, 2025 (three days before Milei promoted LIBRA on X), the bribe was paid in three installments: $1.5 million in tokens or cash as an advance; another $1.5 million after Milei publicly claimed Hayden Davis as his advisor on X; and $2 million after signing a face-to-face contract with Milei to provide blockchain/artificial intelligence consulting services to the Argentine government. Additionally, investigators found a separate memo instructing Milei to publicly support the LIBRA project while denying any financial ties, and to blame political opponents for any misconduct allegations.
