Stablecoin Startup Rain Joins Mastercard as Principal Member on Monday

According to an announcement on Monday, stablecoin payments startup Rain became a Mastercard Principal Member, enabling it to offer stablecoin-powered credit and prepaid cards on the payment network. Rain, which also has an existing partnership with Visa, will now allow card programs to expand across geographies through a single integration. Beyond card issuance, Rain and Mastercard plan to explore settling select program flows onchain using regulated stablecoins. The partnership is part of Mastercard’s expanding stablecoin strategy, which includes acquiring infrastructure firm BVNK and launching a Crypto Partner Program with over 85 crypto-native companies.
