In recent years, the well-known game engine Unity, which has been continuously developing AI tools, announced during its latest earnings call that it plans to release an upgraded version of Unity AI testing tools at the Game Developers Conference (GDC 2026) in March.
The new Unity AI tools claim to enable developers to create casual games entirely through natural language, simplifying the development process from prototype to finished product.
According to Unity’s official legal documentation, the current Unity AI assistant primarily uses large language models such as OpenAI’s GPT and Meta’s Llama, responsible for answering user questions, generating code, and executing proxy operations.
For object generation and optimization, it combines foundational models from various first-party and partner sources. These partners include Scenario models trained on Stable Diffusion, FLUX, Bria, and GPT-Image, as well as Layer AI models based on Stable Diffusion and FLUX.

Bromberg pointed out that Unity AI will democratize game development, allowing users with no coding experience to easily create, while also boosting overall productivity for professional developers.
He stated that Unity’s goal is to eliminate obstacles in the creative process and serve as a bridge connecting initial ideas to successful digital experiences.
During the Q&A session, Bromberg further predicted that, driven by AI development tools, millions of new creators will join the interactive entertainment industry in the future. Unity aims to lead this technological revolution and believes that combining contextual understanding with cutting-edge foundational models will provide developers with more efficient and precise results than general-purpose AI.
Elon Musk, outside the gaming industry, has higher expectations for AI. Recently, some AI companies joked that before the release of GTA 6, people might be able to generate their own GTA 6 within minutes using AI, to which Musk agreed.
In response to Epic CEO Tim Sweeney’s comments, Musk further predicted that in the future, players might not even need to input prompts, as AI will automatically understand and generate their preferred game content.

Generative AI tools have entered the gaming field. After Google recently launched the interactive world generation model Project Genie, market concerns arose, leading to declines in several game-related stocks.
At that time, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told IGN that the panic was caused by the public confusing tools with finished products.
Zelnick emphasized that no tool can produce a competitive, commercial-grade game with just the push of a button. Even with AI-assisted development, creators still need to conceive core concepts, character settings, and overall structure.
He believes that the industry should never underestimate human talent, as tools are meant to unleash human creativity and enable greater achievements.
