FIFA president: Iran will still take part in the World Cup and play in the United States, and related Polymarket odds have plummeted to 11%

Gate News update. On April 1, the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, said today that Iran will still participate in the World Cup and play in the United States. Driven by this news, the Polymarket probability of “Iran’s World Cup qualification being canceled before April 30” briefly plunged to 11%, down 12% over 24 hours.

Infantino said that he will do everything he can to support the Iranian team. According to the schedule, Iran should play all of its matches in Group G in the United States, with two in Los Angeles and one in Seattle. Previously, the Iranian Football Federation had strongly pushed to move the team’s three World Cup group-stage matches from the United States to Mexico. Iran’s Ministry of Sport has banned national teams and sports teams of clubs from traveling to countries it deems hostile until further notice.
