Gate News message, April 19 — On April 18, Hussein Ezzi, a senior official of Yemen’s Houthi movement, warned on social media that the Strait of Hormuz could be closed if efforts aimed at achieving peace continue to face obstruction. He urged the United States and its allies to “end all actions and policies that obstruct peace,” adding that if the strait were closed, “no force could reopen it.”
The Strait of Hormuz connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, serving as a critical chokepoint linking the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Indian Oceans. It is regarded as the “maritime corridor” connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa.
