Why did the crypto market plummet? $510 million in liquidations within 12 hours and liquidity exhaustion trigger a chain reaction of crashes

On February 2nd, news reports that last weekend, the crypto market experienced a sudden and intense sell-off. Bitcoin briefly dropped below $75,000, touching a low of $74,000 before quickly rebounding above $76,000. The short-term "V-shaped" movement exposed the risks of extreme volatility caused by insufficient market depth and high leverage resonance. Data shows that within 12 hours, forced liquidations reached as high as $510 million, with longs losing $391.6 million and shorts $118.6 million. The liquidation structure was severely unbalanced, indicating that many traders initially bet on an upward trend. When the price declined and triggered the forced liquidation mechanism, selling pressure was further amplified, leading to a stampede-like decline.

The limits of the White House's stance in questioning during the U.S. Supreme Court's hearing of the "Trump v. Federal Reserve's Powell" case

Odaily Planet Daily reported that today, during the Supreme Court hearing of the "Trump v. Federal Reserve Cook" case, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Roberts asked: If Cook made an "unintentional mistake" in mortgage materials, where is the line for the White House's stance? Whether it was an unintentional mistake or a fraudulent act to obtain a more favorable interest rate, does it make any difference to the White House? On what grounds can it be concluded that the Federal Reserve is an administrative agency, and thereby determine that the President indeed has the power to dismiss? (Jin10)

Aster Price Prediction: Bullish Liquidations May Push ASTER Down to $0.82—Can Key Support Reverse the Downtrend?

Aster (ASTER) has been under continuous pressure since its launch, dropping about 70% from its high of $1.50. Technically, ASTER formed a clear inverted V-shaped top structure near $1.40, with a rapid pullback following a sharp rise, trapping buyers. The price has consistently remained below the 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages, confirming the continuation of the downtrend. According to the V-shaped top measurement method, ASTER’s neckline is in the $1.04 to $1.05 range. If this support fails, the price could further drop to $0.82, corresponding to the 1.0 Fibonacci extension level. Despite the weak trend, 68% of traders in major CEX perpetual contract markets are still attempting to bottom-fish and go long. However, in the ongoing downtrend, longs are continuously being liquidated. The cumulative net long positions are steadily decreasing, while net short positions remain largely unchanged. This indicates that the current decline is not driven by shorts, but rather by longs being forced to close their positions under pressure, further pushing the price slowly lower.
