The British Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Ukrainian army can use British weapons for self-defense on Russian territory, according to the BBC. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense stated that Ukraine has a “clear right to self-defense against Russia’s illegal attacks… which does not exclude operations within Russian territory.” “We have made it clear during the donation process that the use of the equipment will comply with international law,” they added. This policy means that British anti-tank missiles, artillery, armored vehicles, and other British weapons may appear on the Russian battlefield. However, the British “Storm Shadow” missile will still be prohibited from being used outside of Ukraine. The British government has previously stated that these long-range missiles can only be used in conflicts within Ukraine’s borders.
